Family Promise of Sacramento mourns the loss of Joyce Estes in April. Joyce coordinated the participation of St. Mark's United Methodist Church, one of our twelve "host congregations", for 15 years. She recruited parishioners to stay with our guest families overnight for four weeks a year. She coordinated with other supporting congregations to provide nightly dinners for their guests. She was known to join them in a sleeping bag of her own. She also volunteered at the Family Promise office (aka "Day Center") a couple of times per month to answer phones, fill out intake forms (applications to our program) and often just listen and encourage callers experiencing the trama of homelessness.
